Antonio Canova

Antonio Canova (1757 – 1822) was an Italian Neoclassical artist and one of the most celebrated sculptors. Regularly respected as the most prominent of the Neoclassical artists, his artwork was motivated by the Baroque and the classical revival but maintained a strategic distance from the melodramatics of the previous and the cold artificiality of the latter.
